Woman’s lower body wrapper
Homespun cotton and silk
26 in. X 34 in. tube shape.
Good condition, small amount of frying on seam.

Old hand spun hand dyed woman’s wrapper. The base cloth is cotton with blue indigo dying. Embellished with continuous double face supplementary weft hand spun silk patterning. Two bands of homespun cotton make up the waistband. The 4.5 in upper band is plain white and would be the part that would anchor the shirt in place. The second 2 in. band is handwoven homespun soft rose natural dye color with thin stripe patterning. The body is broken up into sections which the upper main decorative is a 16 in area filled with diamond and triangle patterning done in vivid orange, magenta, blue and beige homespun silk. It is then bordered with horizontal bands diamond and triangle pattering ending with 2 in. of plain indigo cotton base cloth. Feels to be like a very old piece.
