Antique Woman’s Hair Comb/Ornament, East Timor

Circa 19th century. This comb was used for a woman’s adornment during religious ceremonies. Worn at the crown of the head by tucking into the hair, it is made of copper and has traces of gold which once covered the metal surface. Three dimensional floret designs are applied to the copper sheath that covers the bone comb.
