Very good condition. One spot where the strap passes through has native repair. Small break in one of the vertical supports coiled wrapping.
Both the Katu and Alak use basket styles such as this one. Simple cording or rattan vine would pass through the loops, pass through the base and wrapped around the carrier’s forehead. Would be used for all types of collecting but mainly used for gathering cotton in the fields. Beautiful weave and a rich dark patina show wear and use, more than likely from the maker.
