Bamboo, rattan cloth and cording.
7.5 in. across at base, 10 in. tall, 8.5 in. open at mouth, 8 in. deep inside
Good condition. The termination at the top of one of the legs show wear from use.

Antique dark 4-legged basket with a nice patina. The corner of the lower legs has a nice split bamboo wearing to secure them in place. The cloth and cording straps are replacements of the originals.
Collected in Vietnam mid 90’s. The Co tu live both in Vietnam and in neighboring Laos. Traditional they would live in the middle and upper hill areas but now have been migrating down to the lower valleys. They are part of the Mon-Khmer language group The live in close proximity of the Ta Oi peoples and share common design in weaving and design. Baskets like this one are used every day in the fields or home. For gathering seeds, herbs or woodlands products.
