Teak Wood Boxes from Thailand

These 5 inch lidded teak boxes are made by the same family who carve the teak wood panels in northern Thailand. (See Tribal Spirit’s write-up: Teak Woodcarvers of Northern Thailand). They are made from the branches of farm raised, Government licensed, teak trees that are being harvested for other purposes. The average size is 5 to 6 inches across and 3.5 inches high. The lid averages .75 inches thick and is pegged on to the body of the box, swivels to open. The actual carved out cavity of the box is about 2 inches deep. The decorative elements of the lids are made from a durable cast polyresin.
