Boxes like these are used in most Bhutanese homes to this day. Mainly coming from the eastern area of Sakteng they are found throughout the country. Bent bamboo is formed in a tight circle and topped with a light weight wood to for the lid and bottom. The two halves slide together very tight for a secure fit. The rich burnished patina shows years of use in a remote Himalayan home in the Kingdom of Bhutan.
