This elaborate dress fastener and decorative accessory is referred to as "coma" in Bhutan. It is used to join two corners of the large rectangular dress, "kira", at each shoulder for wearing. The example shown here would have belonged to a very aristocratic woman due to its complex design and the chain of old coins. The coins display the visage of Ugyen Wangchuck, the first King of Bhutan. He is shown wearing the Raven Crown, symbol of his monarchy.
